The story of the woman caught in adultery John 8: 3-11
Those pointing the finger are all "guilty".
I think the Lord was reminding us here that we are full of problems and need only concentrate on our own and to judge only when we are pure (which is never). Shame may be what has us pointing fingers rather than dealing with our own stuff. We are reminded to focus on ourselves while God does the judging and sets others on their individual paths of recovery or not. Ours is but to expose our 12 step philosophy of life and move on.
In step 5 we talk to ourselves first then to our loving God and then very importantly to a non-judgemental, non-teaching, non-advice giving, gentle person who loves us unconditionally (there must be comfort in the relationship in order to avoid shame which destroys recovery and often causes relapse).
REAL FREEDOM RESIDES IN THIS SHARING, OUR SECRETS KEEP US SICK
"Oh Lord let us share our weaknesses as You strengthen us through them. May our life's experiences, shared, be of value to others-Amen!"
